01 — Who We Are

A mill run by people who obsess over quality.

Kamdar Knits started on the factory floor, not in a boardroom — and it still shows in how we work.

We build mattress ticking the way people who actually sleep on mattresses would want it built: durable, breathable, and finished well enough that a cover doesn't need to hide under a slipcover. Today we run knitting, weaving, and quilting lines side by side, so every order — from a boutique bedding label to a national manufacturer — gets the same attention to weight, hand-feel, and finish.

We're not the biggest mill in the industry, and we're fine with that. We'd rather be the one bedding brands call when a colorway needs to match exactly, a pattern needs to repeat perfectly at the seam, or a new fiber blend needs a partner willing to run the trial batch.

01

Craft over volume

Every roll gets checked for GSM consistency, colorfastness, and hand-feel before it leaves the floor — not just a sample at the start of the run.

02

Fewer handoffs, faster lead times

Knitting, weaving, dyeing, finishing, and quilting all happen under one roof, so a custom order doesn't wait on three different vendors.

03

Co-developed, not off-the-shelf

We work directly with brand and product teams to build custom stripe widths, colorways, and finishes — not just sell from a swatch book.

02 — What We Produce

Ticking, built two ways.

Mattress ticking is the fabric that wraps the foam and springs — the first thing a hand touches. We run it across every major construction.

Knitted Ticking

Circular-knit jersey and interlock constructions with soft stretch recovery — the standard for foam-encasement and hybrid mattress covers.

Double-Jersey Jacquard

Multi-colour patterns knitted directly into a double-jersey base on circular jacquard knitting machines — the design sits in the knit structure itself, giving a plush, two-layer face-and-back cloth with strong recovery.

Also on the floor: non-woven and spunlace base fabrics for mattress linings, and full private-label development — tell us your stripe width, colourway, and pattern repeat, and we'll build it to spec.
03 — Design Process

From a pencil line to a finished mattress.

Every pattern we run starts as a rough idea on paper, long before it's a repeat, a colourway, or a roll of fabric. Here's what that path actually looks like at Kamdar Knits.

01

Concept sketch

It starts on paper.

Before a machine touches it, someone sketches the idea by hand — the repeat, the scale of each cell, where the motif sits. A quick pencil doodle is enough to know if a pattern is worth developing further.

02

Digital pattern

Then it becomes a repeat.

The sketch gets redrawn as a clean vector repeat, so we can check the geometry at full scale — where each hexagon meets the next, how the motif sits inside the cell, and whether the pattern tiles edge to edge without a visible seam.

03

Fabric production

We knit it before we commit to it.

The confirmed pattern gets run in a handful of colour tones on the actual knitting machines — not just on screen. Seeing the same repeat in a cooler blue-grey next to a warmer neutral tells us things a digital mock-up can't: how the yarn catches light, how the motif reads at arm's length, which tone actually belongs on a mattress.

04

Finished product

And it ends up on the mattress.

Once a tone is chosen, the pattern goes into full production and becomes the ticking on a finished mattress — the same hexagon repeat that started as a pencil sketch, now knitted, quilted, and ready to ship.

04 — Our Machinery

From yarn to roll, under one roof.

Six stages, six kinds of machines, zero external handoffs between them.

Warping & Winding

Yarn is wound and warped to spec — count, tension, and put-up — before it ever reaches a knitting head or a loom.

High-speed warpersPrecision tension control

Circular Knitting

High-speed circular knitting machines turn yarn into ticking jersey, interlock, and mesh backers at 24–32 gauge.

24–32 gaugeUp to 340cm width

Jacquard Weaving

Jacquard looms weave multi-colour patterns directly into woven ticking — the design is in the structure of the cloth, not printed on top of it.

Electronic jacquard headsUp to 8-colour repeat

Dyeing & Finishing

In-house dyeing and heat-setting, with a stenter frame for width and shrinkage control, plus soft-hand, anti-pill, and flame-retardant finishing.

Quilting

Multi-needle quilting machines bond ticking to foam or fibre fill in continuous rolls, from simple diamond patterns to jacquard-matched quilting.

Inspection & Rolling

Every roll passes 4-point inspection under raking light before it's wound, wrapped, and staged for shipping.

05 — Functional Fabrics

Ticking that does more while you sleep.

Beyond classic ticking, we develop performance finishes and fibre blends for brands building around a specific sleep problem.

Cooling / Phase-Change

PCM-infused yarns and moisture-wicking knits that pull heat away from the sleeper through the night.

Antimicrobial

Silver-ion and other treatments that inhibit odour-causing bacteria and dust-mite activity in the fabric.

Stretch & Recovery

Spandex-blended knits that hug foam and hybrid cores tightly without sagging or bunching over time.

Flame Retardant (FR)

Inherent and topical FR treatments engineered to meet mattress flammability standards without changing hand-feel.

Hypoallergenic

Tightly-knit barrier constructions that reduce allergen and dust penetration for sensitive sleepers.

Recycled & Responsible

Recycled polyester and organic cotton blends for brands building lower-impact bedding lines.
